Living Deeply~Dying Well
Health Care Directive Workshops
What are your future health care preferences? What if there is an accident and suddenly you can not speak for yourself? How do you talk to your loved ones about their end-of-life wishes? What are the four stages of hope? What do you want your legacy to be including how you die?Befriend these conversations so you can live more deeply now.
This four session workshop is a safe place to learn, discuss and share stories while writing your Advanced Health Care Directive. Deciding and sharing who will be your health care advocate will give you peace of mind and remove a burden from your loved ones.
A Health Care Directive is flexible and can be updated to fit the stages of your life.
“Speaking of Dying” Film Screening and Discussion
“Speaking of Dying” captures the importance of individuals and groups speaking openly about all aspects of the dying process. The interviews and stories in this 30-minute documentary reveal the complexities of end-of-life choices in today’s medical environment.
The speakers demonstrate resourcefulness and attitudes that remind us we have more control over where and how we die than we may think.
A discussion period which meets the needs of your organization/community follows the film. The program runs 60-90 minutes.
Consultations
And… Sometimes you just need an individual consultation or conversation with your loved ones.

RNs can receive up to 6 CEUs for attending the HCD workshop. 1-2 CEUs for film discussions.
Who Needs a Health Care Directive? You and Your Loved Ones
Anyone 18 and over can write a HCD. In LaCrosse WI 90% of adults have one. Minnesota studied their Gunderson method and since 2009 the Minnesota Medical Society, advanced practice RNs (APRNs) and physician assistants (PAs) established the same goal using Honoring Choices. Short forms and long forms are available.
Often life transitions (leaving home, a new job, partnering, marriage, divorce, preparing for retirement, aging parents, a change in health status) are a motivation for writing or updating your HCD.
